Resources Overview
The CDS Resource Center is a repository of workforce development materials which you can download as desired. Materials are added regularly, so please return often. Some examples of the kinds of materials you will find here include:
- The Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Crosswalk shows how courses, management tools and human resources and surveys of the CDS are used to address the focus areas and desired outcomes of the CMS Quality Framework.
- The state of Virginia conducted a year-long pilot demonstration pilot of incorporating the CDS into its statewide workforce development project.
- “Successful Foundations” is a handbook to help you plan for how the CDS can be best utilized for effective staff development, performance improvement and training programs for DSPs and frontline supervisors (FLSs). It helps you explore how the CDS can be used to replace, supplement or compliment your current training program and human resources learner management systems.
"The College of Direct Support was created by some of the leading experts in the field and is built on established and validated skill sets. This curriculum comes as a result of requests made by Direct Support Professionals, provider agencies, and counties for training that is practical, user-friendly and flexible… By providing this training opportunity, the Office of Mental Retardation hopes to demonstrate its commitment to addressing the recruitment and retention issues faced by the Commonwealth."
